I’ve been away for a while, a really long while! I needed time to settle into the new things happening in my life. New environment, new status, new responsibilities…all new everything. But amidst all, it’s been peace
I recently found my scrutinizing glasses and put it back on after such a long break and damn! Has a whole lot happened right under my nose or what?
So, remember how I said I found myself in a new environment yeah? Well that automatically means new people, a new view towards life.
Have you ever been in an environment where you think everyone there is the same and you say a silent prayer asking whatever “powers that be” that you believe in to please give you the grace not to be sucked into the same kind of life style and the same way of reasoning? Well…I have said that prayer more than a few times in just a few days.
We actually as humans, ought to travel once in a while just for the sake of it and see how the people outside of our comfort zones reason. It doesn’t mean they are wrong or anything of the sort, they are just different and that kind of difference might not go down well with you at first, but you realize that after a while, it starts to make more sense to you. You get to understand why they act the way they do, then its left for you to either follow suit or make up your mind to be different.
So back to the matter, take this as a public plea, please don’t compete with anybody. Some people are so much in competition with everyone around them that they lose sight of what the real deal is. As a proper Ibo girl, when I’m in a business environment, I’m there thinking, but are we not all here to just make money and add the little value we can? Well, that most times is wrong!
My neighbour wants to be better than me, that chic wants to be better than the next, why should that guy look better than me? And the madness continues. The truth is, the person you are looking up to, might actually be dead broke! all na packaging!! People take loans to pay house rent for houses their fathers cannot afford. The truth is, if you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it. Shikena. And whenever your throat starts to get longer and insatiable, cut it off! I think the bible will support me on that one sef.
Ladies, my lovely ladies…if anyone has told you the lie that your so called money-maker cannot expire, na lie oh! Na hand and mouth dem dey take shout halleluyah, no be leg oh. If you don’t understand what I’m saying, I bless the Lord for your soul sister!
The point of all my blabbing is, you cannot compete with a president’s son or a minister’s daughter when your father is a farmer (mind you, farming is a noble profession). Life’s not fair, we know this. Life is hard, we’ve heard this a million times, but trust me, it’ll be a bit easier if you stay on your own lane. Don’t accidentally joke and say you want to cross to the president’s son’s lane. Don’t! And just maybe you can keep yourself from being in debt and maybe even stealing.
Always remember the saying “time and chance happeneth to them all”…all it takes is time and you’ll eventually get to your desired place of rest!
Stay simple…stay safe!
This piece was very humourous & entertaining yet it still hit the nail squarely on the head. Kudos girl!
